WebDrive Strikes Out Hard — Back to ExpanDrive

Home Technology Software WebDrive Strikes Out Hard — Back to ExpanDrive

I had been using WebDrive for the trial period and I was impressed. In general, performance was better than ExpanDrive, and it was a lot more stable. The trial expired, and I was about ready to make the purchase when something odd began to happen. Whenever I saved a larger executable to my OneDrive with WebDrive, Windows Defender would detect malware.

Windows Defender has detected malware or other potentially unwanted software.

Obviously this is unacceptable. I downloaded the file again and saved it directly to the hard drive without any issue. This occurred previously with another file, and I thought maybe it was just a bad file. Now I think the actual application is compromised. I have since uninstalled the application, and I will not be purchasing a license for it. I have since switched back to ExpanDrive and will continue to use it for the time being.
