Oh DOTA 2, it’s been quite awhile hasn’t it? Over three years since the last time I played you. And yet here I am again, waiting to play a bot match again. So much has changed, and yet so much has stayed the same.
I have almost 1,000 hours of DOTA 2 time logged on Steam. I played it back when it was still just a beta. Match after match, doing decently, but never great enough to be more than just an amateur — it was fun… for awhile. Then the community became more and more toxic. People felt the need to insult and trash abilities. They were rude, and the game became “un-fun.” I uninstalled the game after deciding I was done. That was over three years ago.
Now it appears the game’s toxic community has been cleaned up, and I can enjoy it again for what it is — a quick game to jump into and have fun with for about an hour and then be done. I played two matches last night and both were great. I may be ready to play against other people soon enough.
Having said all that, it’s nice to be back playing games with my friends.
See you online!
